Single-lane restriction goes into effect today
The state Department of Transportation is advising motorists a section of Route 18 between Deep Valley Road (Route 3010) and Milliken Road in Freeport Township will have a single-lane restriction beginning today and continuing to Oct. 24.
The lane restriction will be in place 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout the duration of the project. Traffic will have a single 11-foot lane restriction with an alternating pattern controlled by a temporary traffic signal.
The restrictions will be in two phases. The first will close the northbound lane and phase 2 will close the southbound lanes later in the project. This will allow for complete bridge reconstruction.
Work consists of spread footer construction, reconstruction of approaches, guiderail improvements and full depth roadway reconstruction.
The contractor on this $1,136,235 project is Allison Park Contracting in Allision Park.
Motorists are always reminded to slow down and drive with caution when entering any work zone.
