Crest Avenue Apartments dealing with bedbugs

1 min read

A resident’s used couch apparently was the culprit in a bedbug outbreak at Crest Avenue Apartments, Charleroi, during the past week.

William McGowen, Washington County Redevelopment Authority executive director, said the apartment of the resident who brought in the piece of used furniture and the apartment next to it have been treated by Ehrlich Pest Control.

No residents of the 42-unit renovated elementary school had to relocate.

The redevelopment authority also dealt with a bedbug infestation at the 104-unit Char House high-rise, where four or five units were treated by the exterminator four or five months ago, McGowen said.

While there is no prohibition on used furniture, he asked residents to inspect upholstery and mattresses thoroughly to make sure they are pest-free before moving them into redevelopment authority buildings.
