Rain Day 5K Race planned

Runners and walkers will make their way up Porter Street in Waynesburg on July 27 for the 35th annual Rain Day 5K Race. The event will also feature a one-mile fun run for children. All proceeds from the event support the work of Greene County Habitat for Humanity.

Race day registration will begin at 8:15 a.m. in the parking lot behind McCracken Pharmacy, 595 East High St. The cost at that time will be $18 for the 5K and $12 for the kids’ run.

The children’s run will start at 9 a.m., and the 5K run/walk will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Awards will be given in several categories including the top three overall male runners, the top three overall female runners and the top five male and female walkers. Awards will also be given to the top three male and female runners by age group. The top three boys and girls in the Kids Fun Run will each receive an award, and ribbons will be given to all finishers in the Kids Fun Run.

The age groups for the Fun Run are boys and girls 5 and under; 6-7; 8-9; and 10-12. For the 5K run, the age groups are men and women 14 and under; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; and 60 and over.
