Tractor-trailer crash snarls I-70 traffic
A tractor-trailer overturned on Interstate 70 near the West Alexander exit Thursday morning, causing major delays in the eastbound lanes for most of the day.
The trucker had just crossed the state line from West Virginia about 10 a.m. when the rig rolled over onto its passenger side and came to rest on the highway’s right shoulder.
That forced state police to close the right lane, backing up eastbound traffic for miles. Emergency crews later briefly closed both eastbound lanes and detoured traffic around the crash. The wreckage wasn’t removed from the scene until about 4:30 p.m.
The name and condition of the truck driver were not immediately available. It was not known if any other vehicles were involved in the crash.
West Virginia State Police assisted directing traffic at the scene.
