W.Pa. cyclist, 17, dies after being hit by car

CORAOPOLIS (AP) – Authorities said a Western Pennsylvania teenager died after she was struck by a car while riding her bicycle near Pittsburgh.

Police and the Allegheny County medical examiner’s office said 17-year-old Emily Jancart died shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Authorities said she was struck in Moon Township near the Sewickley Bridge about 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Officials said the 27-year-old driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with police, who haven’t filed any charges in the case.
