PITTSBURGH (AP) – Authorities said three people were injured when a pickup truck plunged at least 30 feet from an overhead ramp onto a street near the Allegheny County jail in Pittsburgh.

Police said the truck dropped from the Liberty Bridge ramp and landed on Second Avenue about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Commander Scott Schubert told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that three of the four passengers were in serious condition.

He said “It’s very fortunate they are alive.”

Officials said the truck was heading south on the bridge when it went up on the sidewalk, drove through a fence and “pingponged” down to the street 30 or 40 feet below.
