Shooting suspect waives case to court
CECIL – A Hendersonville man accused in a recent shooting waived his criminal charges to court, including an amended charge of felon not permitted to possess a firearm, during a preliminary hearing Tuesday before District Judge Valarie Costanzo.
Tyrone Lett of 28 Raven Drive was charged by Cecil Township police shortly after Richard Reed of Washington appeared in the Canonsburg General Hospital emergency room July 13 with gunshot wounds.
Reed told police he received a telephone call about 7:30 p.m. July 13 to meet someone at 28 Raven Drive. When he arrived, Reed said he heard yelling coming from the residence, then heard a shotgun blast and felt pellets hit his chest.
Reed, with his brother, Damon Reed, drove to the end of the street, which is a dead end, and turned around. Richard Reed said he was hit in the face with pellets when they drove back past the house. He then drove to the hospital.
Police arrested Lett at his house at 1 p.m. July 14 and said they found a 410-gauge shotgun inside the residence.
Lett is charged with aggravated assault, attempted homicide, reckless endangerment, simple assault and disorderly conduct, plus the newly amended charge.
He was returned to Washington County jail on $200,000 bond. He also is being held on a detainer.
