Action: Supervisors voted to approve a temporary easement on a property owned by LPS Investments. The township would use the property to erect a temporary bridge for use while the current unnamed bridge on Clark Avenue is replaced.

The township also accepted Morgan Excavating’s bid of $71,877 for work to be completed on a storm drain system along Donahoe Street. The work will be paid for through a grant program run by the Redevelopment Authority of Washington County.

Next meeting: 7:30 Aug. 20

Action: Although a date was not set, supervisors voted to hold a hearing to discuss a new subdivision and land development ordinance. The new ordinance, which was sent to the planning commission for review, would change rules for land development along private streets and fire protection requirements.

The purchase of an uninterruptable power source also was approved at a cost of $300. The device would protect computers from losing data in case of a loss of electricity in the building.

Date: July 8

Action: McDonald council members voted to approve a resolution authorizing the sewage authority to undertake a feasibility study. The authority will look for alternative options for a regional sewer system.

The borough had entered into an agreement with the state Department of Environmental Protection, which would help fund a project to provide additional stormwater drainage.

Next meeting: 7 p.m. Aug. 5

Date: July 9

Action: The third time was a charm for supervisors hoping to pass an ordinance to approve the installation of lights for a flagpole near the new police building. Supervisors had failed to approve of the measure in two previous meetings due to cost concerns. Shultz Electric recently offered to waive the labor costs, leaving the township to pay $780 for materials. The motion to install the lights was passed with Supervisor Dan Piatt voting no.

A work change-order of $29,593 also was approved for unanticipated work that had to be completed to comply with an erosion and sedimentation control plan set forth by the DEP.

Next meeting: 6:30 p.m. July 23
