Ex-school cop guilty of molesting four
PITTSBURGH (AP) — A former Pittsburgh Public Schools police officer has been convicted of molesting four boys in the late 1990s.
The weeklong trial of 44-year-old Robert Lellock ended Monday when a jury took just three hours to convict him of 13 charges including indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children and corruption of minors.
Lellock didn’t comment as he was taken to jail to await his Oct. 8 sentencing before an Allegheny County judge.
Lellock denied county prosecutors’ claims that he used his badge and uniform to intimidate the boys, all students at a middle school during the 1998-99 academic year. Prosecutors say Lellock would pull the boys out of class and molest them in a broom closet.
Lellock denied that, saying he took the boys into the closet to gather information about school problems.
