CARMICHAELS – A Sycamore man who fought with his girlfriend’s parents and assaulted police was sentenced to five years’ probation Wednesday in Greene County Court. The sentence was handed down by Judge Farley Toothman after Christopher Allen, 34, of 187 N. West St., Waynesburg pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, simple assault, escape, resisting arrest, recklessly endangering another person and multiple related charges.

Police said Allen was standing in the middle of the street on Dec. 24 screaming when they responded to a call at 102 Charles St., in Carmichaels for a man fighting with his girlfriend’s parents.

Mike Konosky, Sr. told police Allen head butted him after he told Allen not to play the guitar so loudly because others were trying to talk.

According to the criminal complaint, police offered to take Allen and his children home “to avoid getting into trouble on Christmas Eve” but Allen was too intoxicated to understand what was being said.

Allen and his children were taken to the police station. After being let out of the patrol car, Allen started grabbing officers and yelling in their faces, police said.

The children were removed from the car and their mother was called to come get them.

Allen was handcuffed and placed in the back of the patrol car to be taken to jail.

Police said Allen kicked a window out of the car. When he was removed from the vehicle, he began fighting with an officer. After kicking the officer in the groin and attempting to head butt him, the officer struck him until he stopped resisting.

As he was helped to his feet, Allen escaped and ran into a field near the station where he was tackled by another officer.

Allen was placed in a patrol car and taken to Southwest Regional Hospital where he received stitches on his lower lip.

On the way to the hospital, he kicked both officers in the head and spit on them, police said.

He was ordered to pay restitution of $886 to Cumberland Township Police Department, $1,000 in fines, plus fees and court costs and to perform 200 hours of community service.
