Canon-McMillan High School graduation set for Thursday

Canon-McMillan High School will graduate 343 seniors during its commencement beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday at Big Mac Stadium.
Speakers will be Jacob Brown, valedictorian; Nicole Witkowski, salutatorian, and Connor Schram, honor graduate.
Brown is a son of Charles D. and Teena M. Brown of McDonald. He will attend Pennsylvania State University, Shreyer Honors College, to study astronomy and astrophysics.
He is the recipient of the Academic Excellence Award scholarship from Penn State University, the Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship and the Paul Pivac Scholarship for Emergency Services.
He also is a member of the National Honor Society, National Society of High School Students, French National Honor Society and the math league. He was team captain in the Academic WorldQuest Competition and participated in Bella Voce competition choir and the men’s ensemble.
He graduated from the Westinghouse Science Honors Institute and participated in the Moody’s Mega Math Challenge.
Witkowski is a daughter of Joseph C. Witkowski of McMurray. She will attend Duquesne University and study music education.
She has received an $8,000 per year academic scholarship from Duquesne University and a $10,000 per year flute scholarship. She is a two-year member of the PMEA District I honor band, having performed at Carnegie Music Hall.
She also is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish honor society, student council and Spanish club. She was one of three drum majors during her senior year and a member of Bella Voce.
Schram is a son of Ron and Kristen Schram of Canonsburg. He will attend Stanford University.
He has received a full athletic scholarship from Stanford, having excelled in wrestling during his high school career. He is a member of the National Honor Society and French Honor Society and was on the advisory board for Teen Outreach.
