Voluntary manslaughter plea for woman in Pa. death

1 min read

UNIONTOWN (AP) – A Western Pennsylvania woman pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the stabbing death of her boyfriend 1½ years ago.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review said 42-year-old Debra Ann Becker entered the plea Monday in Fayette County Court.

Attorneys said she would serve seven to 14 years under the terms of a plea agreement with prosecutors.

Becker was charged in the December 2011 death of 47-year-old Ronald Mudery Jr. as the two were fighting in their North Union Township home.

She told police that she stabbed the victim when she grabbed a knife to protect herself against his pit bull and he stepped in to protect the animal.

In court Monday, she said she intended to stab both the man and the animal because she was afraid of both.
