Party leads to charges for teens

2 min read

A 17-year-old North Strabane Township boy faces charges in a juvenile allegation after he allegedly fired shots from a rifle during a party hosted last month by a 15-year-old girl while her father was out of town.

Township police Lt. Dan Levi charged the boy with reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.

Police were called after gunshots were reportedly fired in the area about 4:30 a.m., Levi said.

The 15-year-old girl had reportedly invited friends to her home at 540 Taylor Drive. When the girl’s father returned home, Levi said he discovered there had been a party and started asking questions. The father also learned his rifle had been fired.

“It became a very serious matter in which someone could have been injured or killed,” Levi said. “The shots entered a garage not far from where someone was sleeping.”

Police learned during the investigation that some of the girl’s friends brought alcohol and the prescription drug Xanax. As the party was going on, the 17-year-old found the rifle and went outside, firing at least four shots.

One of the shots hit a garage door at 537 Taylor. Two shots hit glass in a lamp post at 550 Taylor. A fourth shot hit a vehicle parked in the driveway at 540 Taylor.

Also facing charges of criminal mischief and disorderly conduct for allegedly throwing eggs and spaghetti sauce at the home at 537 Taylor are Deondre Johnson, 18, of 311 Greenside Ave., Canonsburg, a 16-year-old Canonsburg boy and 17-year-old North Strabane boy. They will split the cost of the $1,192 in damage to the house.
