Bentworth School District tax increase not expected
BENTLEYVILLE – Property owners in the Bentworth School District should not see an increase in their real estate tax bills this summer from the school district.
Bentworth School Board is expected to adopt a $15.6 million district budget June 17, a spending plan that does not include an increase in the millage rate, Bentworth Superintendent Charles Baker said.
He said a tax increase was avoided under the terms of the tentative budget introduced May 20 because six teaching positions were eliminated last year through attrition.
“That’s how we managed,” Baker said. “We scrimped and saved.”
The district also reduced expenses by limiting the purchase of supplies, he said.
