Donora Borough clerk accused of theft
A Donora Borough clerk is facing allegations she stole $200 from the borough office in February. Washington County Detective James McElhaney on May 1 charged Dawn Kovalak, 49, of Donora, with one count of theft, alleging she took the money about 3 p.m. Feb. 26 when she was captured on video surveillance entering the borough administrator’s office and closing the door behind her, court records show.
Kovalak has been placed on leave, Donora Council President Karen Polkabla said. Polkabla declined further comment.
Kovalak faces a preliminary hearing in the case at 10:15 a.m. June 25 before District Judge Curtis Thompson.
