BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio (AP) – A State Highway Patrol trooper says there were no serious injuries when a single-engine airplane crashed in a field in western Ohio.

Trooper A.R. Rea said the pilot and his lone passenger were able to walk away from the crash Saturday afternoon. Rea said the plane crashed about 2 p.m. in a field just south of Bellefontaine Municipal Airport.

Rea said pilot was practicing a touch-and-go landing technique when there was some damage to the plane and he was forced to make an emergency landing just past the runway.

Troopers from the patrol’s Marysville Post investigated the crash. Rea said the Federal Aviation Administration is expected to begin its investigation at the scene Monday.
