Chartiers Township man waives cases to court on separate burglary charges
A Chartiers Township man accused by three state troopers of separate burglaries of utility trailers in Canton Township waived his cases to court Wednesday.
William L. Strawn, 50, of 141 S. Johnson Road, was nabbed June 2 by police after a witness reported seeing a utility trailer being broken into at 3070 Jefferson Ave.
The thief, later identified as Strawn, allegedly removed items from the trailer owned by National Pipeline and put it in the back of his pickup truck. When police stopped him, they found items, including an extension ladder and copper wire.
Strawn also was caught on surveillance stealing items including aluminum stairs, ladder and brackets from a storage trailer owned by Waller Corp., parked in the lot at Interstate Supply, May 29.
Strawn also was arraigned last week on theft and related charges for allegedly breaking into a second storage trailer, also owned by Waller Corp., at 1655 Jefferson, two days later. He is accused of stealing copper pipe valued at $8,000 and selling it at a scrap yard. Police said he was identified through his driver’s license and on surveillance video.
He also waived that case instead of having a preliminary hearing on the charges next week.
Mark reduced Strawn’s bond from a total of $75,000 on all three cases to $7,500.
