Flood watch issued overnight, through Thursday
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania is directly in the path of a major weather system that could dump significant rain, bring hail and cause flooding.
National Weather Service meteorologist Kevin Fitzgerald in State College said Wednesday the entire state is under a flood watch for high waters overnight and through the day Thursday.
Fitzgerald says the greatest risk of flooding is in the northern portion of the state, while the worst thunderstorms are expected in southern areas.
The forecast led to cancellation of parks events Wednesday night and a downtown farmers’ market in Pittsburgh on Thursday.
