VBS kids help Humane Society
CARMICHAELS – A May 19 story about the need for food and other basic items at the Greene County Humane Society in Waynesburg inspired a local Vacation Bible School to spring into action.
Children attending the Bible school at the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Carmichaels began collecting items for their furry friends June 10. Friday they held their closing day of with an altar full of food, blankets, toys, pet beds and many other items.
The Rev. Reagan Fike said the kids were very excited about helping the shelter pets. The amount and variety of the items they collected and donated brought smiles to Fike and the instructors of the Bible school.
More than two dozen children in preschool through sixth grade participated in the mission.
