FAA probing ultralight crash that killed pilot
CLARKSBURG (AP) – Federal Aviation Administration investigators were set to visit the scene of an ultralight plane crash that killed a western Pennsylvania pilot.
The Indiana County Coroner’s Office says 64-year-old Michael Grguric died at the scene of the crash which was reported about 8:20 p.m. Monday in Young Township. That’s about 35 miles east of Pittsburgh. Grguric was from nearby Clarksburg.
State police Cpl. Jacob Jesse says the aircraft amounted to a small glider with an engine.
The plane crashed into a grove of trees near the village of McIntyre. There’s a small airstrip nearby used mostly by ultralight pilots.
The FAA officials were expected to examine the scene Tuesday.
The cause of the crash wasn’t immediately clear.
