Police: Ohio man jailed in Pa. for seeking hit man

1 min read

MIDLAND, Pa. (AP) — An Ohio man has been charged with trying to hire a hit man during an undercover state police sting in western Pennsylvania.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for 50-year-old Gregory Travis, of East Liverpool, who was taken to the Beaver County Jail after he allegedly met with an undercover trooper in the parking lot of a Chippewa Township restaurant Monday night.

A police news release doesn’t say who Travis wanted to kill or injure, or why, and a criminal complaint containing the charges could not immediately be obtained by The Associated Press.

Police say troopers from the Beaver barracks and police in Midland, a tiny western Pennsylvania borough, became aware of Travis on Friday and worked over the weekend to set up the meeting.

Travis faces charges including criminal solicitation to commit aggravated assault.
