University names director of information technologies

WAYNESBURG – William G. Dumire has joined Waynesburg University as the executive director of information technologies, the university announced Friday.

Dumire will direct the overall management and operation of campus-wide information technology resources.

“William Dumire brings to Waynesburg University an impressive background in information technology as well as an enthusiasm for Christian higher education,” said University President Timothy R. Thyreen.

Dumire also will serve as a liaison with university offices in the procurement and support for technological resources, help lead technological strategic planning initiatives and provide leadership to the Information technology staff, help desk and student technician staff.

“I am deeply honored to have been selected for this position,” Dumire said. “I consider it a great privilege to participate in Waynesburg University’s mission of educating students to make connections between faith, learning and serving so they might faithfully transform their communities and the world.”

Prior to joining Waynesburg University, Dumire served as the Director of Information Technology Services for the School of Dentistry and the Director of Information Technology Quality Assurance for the Health Sciences Center at West Virginia University. In those roles, he helped lead major institutional initiatives and provided information technology management with innovative and visionary leadership.

“We are very pleased to have Mr. Dumire join Waynesburg University,” said Doug Lee, president-elect at Waynesburg. “His experience, vision and commitment will serve the university well.”

Prior to his higher education career, Dumire worked in the private sector, providing information technology support and leadership to various organizations. With more than 15 years serving in higher education, healthcare and private sector environments, Dumire brings diverse expertise to Waynesburg University.

Dumire is a member of the Suncrest United Methodist Church in Morgantown, W.Va., where he and his wife, Teresa, have served on various committees and have actively participated in worship services for the past 18 years.

He holds a bachelor of science in business information sstems and a master of information systems.
