A 15-year-old prisoner escaped briefly from a Washington County sheriff’s deputy today before being apprehended several blocks away. The boy had been at the Washington County Family Court Center and was being escorted by a deputy to a vehicle to be transported to the Jefferson County (Ohio) Juvenile Detention Center, when he ran down Cherry Avenue to Brownson Avenue at West Wheeling Street at about noon, said Deputy Pat Puskarich. The boy, whose wrists were handcuffed and shackled to a chain around his waist, turned onto the alley by Washington City Mission when he fell, said Bill Naumoff, marketing director for the City Mission. Police attempted to use a Taser on the boy, a witness said, but he got up and kept running until being apprehended near Hite Co., 85 W. Maiden St.
