Police: Armed man shot dead by Pa. troopers
UNIONTOWN (AP) — State police say a man was shot to death by troopers responding to a domestic dispute call.
Police in Fayette County say troopers from the Uniontown barracks went to a North Union Township residence at about 10:40 p.m. Friday.
Police said they were met by a man who had a handgun in each hand which he pointed at the officers, who immediately retreated and took cover outside.
Police said the man followed them outside and “refused to comply with verbal commands given by officers.”
Police said both officers fired, and one shot killed the suspect, 50-year-old Shawn Knight, who resided at that address. The officers were uninjured.
The troopers were placed on administrative duties pending results of an investigation of the shooting, as is standard procedure.
