Stephen Lang to portray Greene County war hero
Stephen Lang, 61, is a Tony Award-nominated American actor and playwright. He started in theater on Broadway but is well-known for his film portrayals of Stonewall Jackson in “Gods and Generals” (2003) and George Pickett in “Gettysburg” (1993), as well as for his 2009 roles as Col. Miles Quaritch in “Avatar” and as Texas lawman Charles Winstead in “Public Enemies.” His most recent notable role is Commander Nathaniel Taylor in the 2011 television series “Terra Nova.”
Lang was the co-artistic director, along with Carlin Glynn and Lee Grant, of the famed Actors Studio at its headquarters in New York City from 2004 to 2006.
He has been nominated for and won numerous awards including the Grace Prize, Outer Critics Circle, Drama Desk, Helen Hayes, and Tony awards as well as acting prizes at 2010’s VisionFest and the Buffalo Niagara Film Festival.
Lang’s solo performance of “The Wheatfield” at the Gettysburg 150th anniversary will be followed by the world premiere of the short film “The Wheatfield,” written and acted by Lang; directed by Alexander and Adrian Smith and produced by Jake Boritt.
