Public intoxication charges: Borough police cited the mother of a California Middle School boy with public intoxication when she and another man arrived at the school Thursday to pick up the boy. Misty L. Shider, 32, of 928 Pike Run Drive, Coal Center, and Raymond W. Bell II, 34, 28 Glad St., Daisytown, were cited for being under the influence of a controlled substance after they came to excuse Shider’s son from school. Bell was also cited for driving without a license. Both adults were released to the custody of a family member with Shider’s son released to his father at a later time.

Theft charge: Ryan Caleb Smith, 21, of 180B Foxwood Road, Moon Township, was charged by borough police with theft after he allegedly entered two vehicles parked in the Kwik Fill lot Feb. 24. Police said he removed a purse from one of the vehicles. He was identified from a Kwik Fill video. Charges were filed with District Judge Joshua Kanalis’ office.

Criminal trespass charge: Borough police filed charges of criminal trespass and criminal mischief against Desean Kelley, 18, of Canonsburg, after he allegedly kicked in a door to the apartment at 326 Valley View Terrace Thursday. Police said Kelley’s sister, Jacqueline, and Dianne Perkins also lived in the apartment but that Perkins had requested Desean leave after he allegedly stole money and a prescription medication from her.

ATV stolen: An all-terrain vehicle was removed from a well pad off Archer Road Sunday or Monday, state police said. The vehicle is owned by K&R Pipeline Services of Waynesburg.

Student charged: Chivar D. Brown, 18, of 235 W. Chestnut St., was charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct for shoving a teacher at Washington High School Tuesday, Washington police said. Police said Brown was outside Treg Campbell’s classroom arguing with another student when Campbell asked him to calm down before entering his classroom. Police said Brown attempted to push by Campbell to enter the room twice. Brown then shoved Campbell with both hands into a row of lockers. Teachers and students then took Brown to the school office, where police arrested him. Charges were filed Friday with District Judge Robert Redlinger.

Door kicked in: Tamika Hackett, of 725 Addison Ave., Apt. 1, reported the door to her apartment was kicked in Thursday. Nothing appeared to be missing, police said.

Man cited: Bryan Richardson, of 2080 Southhill Road, Cortland, N.Y., was cited for harassment involving a domestic dispute with Anne Chevalier of 665 Henderson Ave. Thursday. Chevalier told police that Richardson slapped her. He told police he did put his hands on her. Police took him to the station, cited and released him.

Theft from vehicle: Nicole Shaffer, of 55 Seminole Ave., reported her checkbook and two jackets were taken from her vehicle Thursday. Shaffer said her children may have accidentally left the vehicle unlocked.

Tools stolen: Tools worth $9,350 were stolen from the Columbia Gas yard at 251 W. Maiden St. before the start of work Thursday morning. Police said a hole was cut in a fence and burglars broke into several tool boxes on a number or trucks. Ten metal detectors, a jackhammer, impact gun and hammer drill were among the items taken. The company had hired a security guard but it believes he was in the building when the break-in occurred.
