Arrest made in NYC crash that killed expectant parents

1 min read

NEW YORK (AP) — Police say an arrest has been made in a hit-and-run crash in New York City that killed a pregnant woman and her husband. The baby died the day after he was delivered by cesarean section.

New York City police say 44-year-old Julio Acevedo was arrested at a mini-mart in Bethlehem, Pa.

Police say Acevedo was going 60 mph – or twice the speed limit – in a BMW that hit a livery cab carrying Nachman and Raizy Glauber early Sunday. The parents-to-be were members of a close-knit ultra-Orthodox Jewish community in Brooklyn.

The wife was seven months pregnant. She was headed to a hospital because she wasn’t feeling well.

Police spokesman Paul Browne said Acevedo had a drunken-driving arrest in February.

It’s not known if the suspect has an attorney.
