William Groves, a supervisor and road master for Cumberland Township, was recently re-elected secretary of the Trustees Insurance and Pension Trusts, sponsored by the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors. Groves has served as a trustee since 2004.

“The board of trustees oversees all functions of the trusts’ insurance services and ensures the programs sponsored by PSATS are the best available to our members,” PSATS Executive Director David M. Sanko said. “The trusts and PSATS are fortunate to have a dedicated public servant like Bill willing to give of his time and talents in a way that ultimately helps townships and taxpayers across Pennsylvania.”

“Our goal is to fill townships’ insurance needs at an affordable cost,” Groves said. “It’s a challenge in today’s competitive insurance market, but we work very hard to make that happen.”

Groves also has served as chairman of the PSATS Executive Board and the Association’s Secretary-Manager Committee.

In addition, he has served as president of the Greene County Association of Township Officials and been a member of the Carmichaels/Cumberland Township Volunteer Fire Department for 43 years, serving as chief for 12 of those years. Groves also gives of his time and talents to many other local organizations.

The Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors represents Pennsylvania’s 1,455 townships of the second class and for the past 92 years has been committed to preserving and strengthening township government and securing greater visibility and involvement for townships in the state and federal political arenas. Townships of the second class represent more residents – 5.5 million Pennsylvanians – than any other type of political subdivision in the commonwealth.

PSATS has been sponsoring health insurance and pension plans through the Trustees Insurance Fund for 54 years – since 1959.

Options offered by the Trusts include three medical insurance plans and a health savings account option; two dental plans; five life insurance plans; three short-term disability plans; retirement benefits through a defined-benefit pension plan and/or a 457(b) savings plan; and unemployment compensation insurance.
