One dies in high-speed car crash
MT. PLEASANT- Police say a car traveling nearly 100 mph in a 35 mph zone went airborne and crashed into a pole in Western Pennsylvania, killing one man and seriously injuring two others.
Investigators tell WTAE-TV the car was on a street near Route 31 early Saturday night when it flew over a hill and hit a pole in Mt. Pleasant. The car then hit two additional poles and knocked down power lines.
The driver and both passengers were ejected from the car. Thirty-two-year-old passenger Corey Maximchalk died. Scott Leighliter and Patrick Marshala were flown to a hospital and in serious condition.
Police say excessive speed caused the crash, but alcohol might have been a contributing factor.
The road was shut down for several hours.
