Three face charges in North Strabane fight

2 min read

Three men will be charged by North Strabane Township police with disorderly conduct stemming from a fight in the middle of Garden Street about midnight Sunday.

The initial report made to police indicated that several people were fighting and a weapon was involved.

Facing charges are James Jankowski, 43, and his 21-year-old son, James W. Jankowski II, both of 133 Garden St., North Strabane, and Jason M. Markle, 24, of 1166 N. Main St., Washington.

When police arrived, they said they found six people in the middle of the street and several people in the driveway at 133 Garden.

Markle, who had a bloody lip and swollen eye, reportedly told police he had a gun under the driver’s seat of his vehicle.

Markle apparently had just dropped off his girlfriend at her home and was parked in the street with the engine running while he told her good night. Police said the elder Jankowski began yelling at Markle because he thought the vehicle was too loud, and the two men were arguing when the younger Jankowski allegedly hit Markle.

Markle, who had a permit to carry a weapon, said he just purchased the gun but had no paperwork for it. The gun was seized by police until ownership could be verified.
