Four receive ARD in Greene

WAYNESBURG – Several criminal defendants were admitted to the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program Tuesday by Greene County Court of Common Pleas.

Those accepted into the program must serve at least one-year probation and pay all fines and costs.

Defendants who enter the program charged with driving under the influence of alcohol also may have their driving privileges suspended and be required to refrain from the use or possession of alcohol.

Those who successfully complete the program can petition the court to have their criminal records expunged.

Entered into the program were:

Scott Edwin Jeffrey, 52, of 128 Bunner Hill Road, Mount Morris, charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and two summary traffic violations; Jeffrey was involved in a motorcycle accident near Steele Hill Road in Dunkard Township May 20. Police said Jeffrey told them he swerved to miss a rabbit and a deer, losing control of his bike. His blood-alcohol content was 0.256 percent. He received a 60-day suspension of his driver’s license and must perform 90 hours of community service in addition to paying all court costs, fees and fines.

Charles Robert Reid, 62, of 478 Gararads Fort Road, Carmichaels, charged with DUI and three summary traffic violations; Reid was arrested Aug. 31 after state police witnessed him driving erratically in the northbound lanes of Interstate 79 in Perry Township. His BAC was 0.0205 percent. He received a 60-day suspension of his driver’s license and must perform 90 hours of community service in addition to paying all court costs, fees and fines.

Joel Patrick Ankrom, 26, of 293 Jensen Hollow Road, Carmichaels, charged with DUI and a summary violation; Ankrom called police Oct. 31 to say he had been drinking and was involved in a one-vehicle accident at 600 Muddy Creek Road in Cumberland Township. Police said they found Ankrom’s Dodge Dakota stuck in the creek 10 to 15 feet from the roadway. His BAC was 0.247 percent. He received a 60-day suspension of his driver’s license and must perform 90 hours of community service in addition to paying all court costs, fees and fines.

Mark A. Miller, Jr., 30, of 1416 Jollytown Road, New Freeport, charged with DUI and a summary violation; Miller was stopped Sept. 23 in Waynesburg Borough for failing to turn on his headlights. His BAC was determined to be 0.126 percent. Miller received a 30-day driver’s license suspension and must pay all court costs, fees and fines.
