Library to host Sister to Sister Summit
Girls who are sixth- or seventh-graders in Washington County are invited to participate in the 13th annual Sister to Sister Summit of Washington County scheduled for April 12-13 at Citizens Library in Washington.
At the Summit, peer facilitator-led small group discussions and a variety of other activities will address critical areas of concern such as dealing with peer pressure, decision-making, creating positive friendships, body image, bullying, personal safety and self-defense, and dating and relationships. Team-building activities, “purposeful fun”, refreshments and ample sleeptime will round out the agenda.
The deadline has been extended to Monday for applications from young women in 11th and 12th grades who would like to serve as peer facilitators. There is a mandatory training session from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and peer facilitators are required to arrive at the summit by 6 p.m. April 12 and stay until 11 a.m. April 13.
Part of an international series of Sister to Sister Summits, this overnight conference is sponsored locally by the Washington branches of the American Association of University Women and Business and Professional Women and Outreach Teen and Family Services with support from Citizens Library, Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern Pennsylvania and Washington Hospital Teen Outreach.

In addition, copies of the registration form and summit information were mailed to all high school and middle school guidance offices or can be downloaded through Facebook or at www.sistertosistersummit.org. The deadline for applications for participants is April 5.
