Waynesburg U. to present musical
WAYNESBURG – The Waynesburg University Players, under the direction of Edward L. Powers, associate professor of theater at Waynesburg University, will present “Anything Goes” at 7:30 p.m. April 3-6 in the Goodwin Performing Arts Center.
Admission is free, and the public is invited.
The Waynesburg University Players presented this Cole Porter show in 2002, and popularity has encouraged Powers to lead the musical once more.
“This musical comedy is a high seas adventure of love, laughter and song. The music is upbeat and enjoyable and the dialogue is full of jokes,” said Powers. “‘Anything Goes’ was one of the most popular Broadway productions of the 1930s and the Waynesburg University Players invite all of you to join us for this toe-tapping cruise.”
The show follows young hero Billy as he stows away aboard the S.S. American searching for his true love.
Students from Greene and Washington counties who are members of the cast and crew are SiReno Mattie, a junior from Rices Landing, Dawson Laabs, a freshman from Washington, Katie Shultz, a sophomore from Venetia, Emily Haywood, a freshman from Claysville, and Olivia Long, a sophomore from Burgettstown.
