Meeting recap: Washington County commissioners

Action: At the request of the Public Safety Department, the commissioners approved travel for Lindsay Keene to attend a training seminar in Huntsville, Ala., next month at an estimated cost of $5,304.

At the request of the same department, the commissioners ratified the renewal of a contract with Jeremy Woelke, geographic information system manager, at the rate of $12 per hour, not to exceed $5,000.

The law firm Bassi, Vreeland and Associates will be paid $150 per hour to represent Record of Deeds Debbie Bardella in a suit filed by Jan Ondra and Billy Joe Sanders, who want to be able to record property transactions with the names of trusts as owners without naming the trustees. The county also will pay John Richards $33 an hour during two days in April to provide legal services to the Children and Youth Services agency during the absence of the CYS full-time attorney.

The board renewed hay leases in Cross Creek County Park with Curtis Hamilton, 88 acres, and Peter Monticello, 18 acres, who will pay the county $20 per acre through April 16, 2014.

At the request of the planning commission, the board approved a right-of-way agreement and payment of $2,148 from gas lease funds to install a dusk-to-dawn light near the gate at Cross Creek County Park.

At the request of Coroner Timothy Warco, the commissioners approved an agreement with Dr. Todd Luckasevic of Bridgeville, forensic pathologist, that will pay $950 for each autopsy and protocol; $100 for each appearance at either a coroner’s inquest or magistrate’s hearing; and $500 for each Common Pleas Court appearance, plus mileage at a rate in accordance with those allowed by the Internal Revenue Service.

At the request of the Domestic Relations department, the commissioners ratified the purchase of a new Ford Interceptor utility all-wheel-drive model for $30,449 from Day Ford Inc. of Monroeville under a pre-approved state contract.

Appointments: Sharon Russell, Washington County Transportation Authority Board, replacing Mike Chromulak, who is unable to serve due to poor health; and Michael Pecosh, Behavioral Health and Developmental Services Board.

Announcement: All county offices will be closed Friday for Good Friday.
