• Date: March 25

• Action: Although the first motion to approve an audit of school finances failed, board members voted 5-4 in favor of accepting the financial document on a second attempt.

Following an executive session held after an original vote on the 2011-2012 audit prepared by Cypher & Cypher, board Vice President Tina Cottrill changed her vote and supported the motion. In addition to Cottrill, President James White, Brant Miller, Larry Heirendt and Elmo Cecchetti II voted in favor of the second motion, while Jodi McKay, Leann Darnley, Melinda Errett and Christopher Lauff were opposed.

A motion also was approved to update local board procedures. Audio recordings are kept by the board secretary in order to maintain accuracy when writing minutes. The district’s original policy said after minutes were written, tapes “shall be destroyed.”

Business manager Paul Sroka said the new policy, which was passed on a 9-0 vote, reflects the use of digital recordings in place of cassette tapes. The updated procedure also calls for copies of audio recordings to be be kept indefinitely on the school’s website.

The board also unanimously voted to deny three grievances by the teachers union. Sroka said the union’s next option would be to seek legal arbitration.

• Next meeting: April 22 at 7:30 p.m.
