Second United Greene Charity Golf Series scheduled

2 min read

WAYNESBURG – Four local organizations will again join together this summer to provide Greene County golfers with an opportunity to compete in a tournament that will benefit a variety of local charities.

The second annual United Greene Charity Golf Series will include four tournaments in which teams collect points based on performance and participation. The Series’ winners will receive a golf weekend for four. In addition, many other prizes will be awarded for skill and participation. Last year, the Series raised more than $ 20,000 for local charities.

The tournaments are four-person scrambles that will be held at Rohanna’s Golf Course. They begin May 11 with the Raider Athletics Organization tournament.

On June 28 the Series continues with the Jim Moore Foundation tournament, followed by the Tyler Ray Garber tournament July 13. The Series concludes July 27 with the Mission for a Miracle, which supports spinal cord research.

All teams are welcome to compete for the Series championship. In addition, businesses may also choose to enter a company team as part of their Series’ sponsorship. These teams will be part of an additional completion in which they will try to win the Greene Cup.

This trophy will be awarded to the business team with the most points in the Series. After being engraved with the new winners’ names, the trophy will reside at the winning business until the following year’s competition. Last year’s Greene Cup was won by Community Bank.
