1 min read

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (AP) – A man who authorities say was trying to break into a southwestern Ohio home was shot and killed by a neighbor.

Lt. Christopher Clark of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office says that a Springfield woman called her next-door neighbor before calling 911 at about 7 a.m. Saturday, reporting that a man was trying to get into her house.

While she was on with 911, Clark says the male neighbor came out with a gun and confronted the suspect.

Clark says the suspect became aggressive, and the neighbor shot him once in the chest.

The suspect was rushed into emergency surgery at a nearby hospital but died.

He was identified as 41-year-old Mark Owen of South Vienna, Ohio.

Clark says the incident is under investigation.
