Strong winds that accompanied a storm that passed through Waynesburg shortly after 3 p.m. Friday tore part of the roof off the house of William D. Hardisty on North Morris Street.

A brief but strong storm blew through Waynesburg shortly after 3 p.m. Friday, pelting the ground with pea-size hail and torrential rain and high winds.

The winds blew new leaves off many trees and downed some large and many small branches. Most of the damage was on Waynesburg’s North side.
