Trio takes $1M in jewels in salesman robbery

1 min read

WEXFORD, Pa. (AP) — Police say three armed men stole $1 million worth of jewelry in a brazen, daylight robbery in Pittsburgh’s North Hills suburbs.

Northern Regional Police Chief Robert Amann said the robbery occurred about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in front of a jewelry store in the Pine Tree Shops in Pine Township.

Police say the salesmen saw three men dressed in black wearing masks approaching him, so he ran. The men then smashed the man’s car window and removed a bag containing the jewels.

The men ran to another shopping center where police believe a pharmacy’s surveillance camera recorded images of them without their masks before someone drove the men away.

Police don’t know if the heist is related to a similar $250,000 jewel theft in Monroeville on April 12.
