Golden Living to partner with pharmacy specialist

2 min read

WAYNESBURG – A business that has been a part of the Waynesburg community for more than 30 years will be undergoing some changes.

The Golden Living Center announced it has partnered with AlixaRx Pharmacy Services to create an automated medication management system that is centered around the patient to give them medication in a safer, more effective way to better the life of their patients.

The Living Center joined with AlixaRx to create a system that will have the right medication for the right patient constantly available. AlixaRx provides an on-site clinical pharmacist, automated dispensing units and electronic medication cabinets, and through these new models offers medication therapy management.

Instead of the Living Centers’ 15- or 30-day supply mode with an automated dispensing unit and electronic medicine cabinet, the AlixaRx turnkey medication management system will operate in a one-day supply model.

The Living Center reconfigured the nursing stations to create a better environment for the dispensing system that makes it easier for the nurses to access and operate the automated dispensing unit, which will let patients receive medications as soon as they need them.

The AlixaRx automated dispensing unit will let the Living Center staff members access 90 percent of the most common oral and solid prescription medications 24 hours a day. The system creates an in-home pharmacy where it will be quick and easy for the Living Center to access medication and distribute to the patients right when they need it.

AlixaRx and Golden Living will be working hand-in-hand to make decisions to improve patient care while lowering costs, improving nursing care and eliminating unused medication.

The Living Center pharmacists also have the ability to review the therapeutic effects of medications in real time and provide early intervention when and if required for patients. A proprietary clinical pharmacist software system and electronic reporting from the automated dispensing system will allow these pharmacists to intervene and review.

The Living Center made these adjustments because it believes it will help them achieve its goal of improving quality patient care, and the center believes that through the AlixaRX system, they will be able to achieve this.
