The Greene County Association of School Retirees is organizing a trip to the Great Smokies in September. Although the group is organizing and coordinating this trip, it is open to anyone who would like to accompany them.

With a six-day, five-night itinerary filled with majestic scenery, lively entertainment, good food, wine tasting and much more, there is something for everybody. The group will leave Waynesburg Sept. 9 and travel to Asheville, N.C., to enjoy a dinner at the Grove Park Inn in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Then they’ll begin the next day by touring America’s largest residence, the Biltmore Estate. Being amazed by its architecture, its galleries and its furnishings, they’ll also take a tasting tour of the Estate’s winery. Finishing that day with dinner at Frankie Bones Restaurant, the travelers will spend another scenic night in the Smokies.

The adventure continues touring the mountains and sampling the culture of the Smokies with a taste of moonshine and visits to Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, Saviervill, and Pigeon Forge. With shows including the Country Jamboree Breakfast Show and The Hatfield’s and McCoy’s Dinner Show, the entertainment accompanies fun and fantastic food. There also is free time for shopping and exploring.

After another night in the mountains, there is a visit to the Gatlinburg Space Needle and time to wander through downtown Gatlinburg. That evening there is yet another dinner and another great show, America’s Hit Parade, at the Grand Majestic Theater.

The trip includes luxury motor coach transportation, five nights of lodging, five breakfasts, five dinners, one lunch, baggage handling and the driver’s and tour guide’s gratuities.

The cost of the adventure is $735 per person based on double occupancy. A deposit of $135 is due by Friday, and the remainder may be paid via two $300 payments by June 15 and July 15.

For information and reservations, call Linda McCracken at 724-627-8379. This will be a fantastic adventure. GCASR stresses this trip is open to anyone who wants to travel with the group.
