Former W. Pa. pharmacist gets 15-year sentence
PITTSBURGH (AP) — A judge has sentenced a former Pittsburgh pharmacist to more than 15 years in prison for illegally possessing a shotgun.
Authorities say 56-year-old Raymond J. Zareck made “excuse after excuse” for his past drug convictions and conduct.
District Judge Joy Flowers Conti sentenced Zareck on Friday after finding that he qualified as an armed career criminal, which calls for a minimum sentence of 15 years. Zareck was sentenced to 15 years and eight months.
The firearms charge came from an April 2009 drug bust that led police to search Zareck’s home.
Zareck claimed that the 12 gauge shotgun found in his home was his brother’s.
