Pat and Bob Brogley of Moon Township, as they appear today

Robert Brogley and Patricia Haas were married June 12, 1971, in Aliquippa. This photo was taken at a commercial photography studio in Aliquippa. Although we now know who these people are, exactly how this negative landed in the Observer-Reporter’s archives will remain a mystery.

“We’re alive and healthy and will be together for 42 years in June,” Pat Brogley said last week.

Her husband, Bob, said, “I’m not over the shock of seeing that picture.” He said the couple never even had a copy of it, just a proof.

“We were so young,” said Mrs. Brogley, who is originally from Hopewell Township in Beaver County. “He was 20 and I was 21.” She said the other two in the picture were even younger. Arthur Brogley, Bob’s brother, standing at left, was 19, and maid of honor Vickie Fowler Iannini, now living in Aliquippa, was just 17 years old.

Bob noticed that the photo published last Monday was reversed. Today’s photo has been corrected to show the men’s hair parted on the left side and his wedding band on his left hand.

The photograph was not without a local connection, however. Although Brogley grew up in Coraopolis, his family moved when he was a teenager to Washington when his father began working at the RCA plant in Meadow Lands. Arthur would go on to work for Jessop Steel, from which he retired. He and his wife, Terry, were married in June 1972 and now live in Scenery Hill.

Bob and Pat Brogley have lived in Moon Township since 1975. Bob worked for Mellon Bank for 34 years and for the past nine years for Northwest Savings Bank, for which he is a regional credit officer. Pat worked as a receptionist in doctors’ offices and retired three years ago.

The Brogleys have two daughters: Tracy King, who lives in Moon Township, and Christy Hollar, mother of their four grandchildren – Ben, 14, Reagan, 12, Tommy, 9 and Gracelynn, 8.
