1 min read

CREIGHTON (AP) – Police say a drunk man narrowly escaped injury when his car was hit by a freight train after his vehicle inexplicably stopped on some railroad tracks near Pittsburgh.

Police have yet to release the name of the man who jumped from the car and was found passed out in some bushes near the railroad crossing in East Deer Township, about 20 miles northeast of Pittsburgh, along the Allegheny River.

The incident happened about 11:30 p.m. Sunday and police say it was captured on cellphone video by another motorist who says the drunken driver nearly ran him off the road before the suspect’s car stopped on the tracks.

The driver was in custody at the Allegheny County Jail, awaiting arraignment on unspecified charges Monday morning.
