Fairground to host Produce to People event
WAYNESBURG – The Greene County Salvation Army will host its monthly Produce to People event from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Greene County Fairgrounds. All income-eligible households will be qualified to receive free food.
In April, the Greene County Salvation Army provided more than 550 families with food items, including meats, fish, produce and non-perishable food items. The food comes to Waynesburg from the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
If you are interested in learning more about Produce to People, or to see if you would be eligible, contact Sister Audrey Quinn at Audrey.Quinn@USE.SalvationArmy.org or call 724-852-1479.
Families picking up food should bring boxes, bags, carts or wagons. No one will be permitted to pick up for another individual or family unless you are signed up at The Salvation Army.
Future Produce to People dates are June 27, July 25, Aug. 22, Sept. 26, Oct. 24, Nov. 21 and Dec. 19.
In addition to Produce to People, the Greene County Salvation Army offers a variety of services from its warehouse at 131 W. First St., in Waynesburg. Among the additional services are free clothing, coupon exchange, free camps for children, disaster services and emergency utility and rent assistance, among many others.
