Police beat May 22
Ring stolen: Keith Werner, 348 Ridge Ave., told Canonsburg police early Tuesday that when he took his dog outside, he discovered the door of his vehicle ajar. His fiancee’s 13/4 karat diamond ring was stolen from the vehicle.
Driver injured: Andrew Ladzinski, 19, of McMurray, was injured May 15 when his car crashed on Interstate 79 northbound just north of the Southpointe interchange, Cecil. Police said he was driving at a high rate of speed alongside another vehicle when that vehicle allegedly swerved, forcing him off the road. Police said Ladzinski was going at least 70 mph when his car traveled off the highway, hit an embankment and rolled several times. He was taken to UPMC-Mercy hospital, Pittsburgh, for treatment. Police said he faces several citations.
Nail guns stolen: Scott Jeffers, 218 Roth St., reported the theft of three Bostich air finishing nail guns and a fourth finishing nail gun of unknown make to Chartiers police Saturday.
Plants stolen: Linda Anestis, 102 Cedar Lane, told Chartiers police Friday that six potted plants were stolen from outside her home.
Mower, trimmer stolen: Sandra D. Bailey, 807 Country Club Road, told Chartiers police Thursday her lawn mower, weed trimmer and gasoline can were stolen from her garage.
Power washer stolen: A power washer that was left beside a house at 2151 E. National Pike in North Bethlehem Township was reported stolen Monday night, state police said.
Bag stolen: Kimberly Defibaugh of Wellsburg, W.Va., told North Franklin police Monday a bag containing cigarettes, prescription medication, two folders, cellphone and charger were stolen from her vehicle while it was parked at Washington Crown Center.
Woman injured: Jocelyn Hupp, 21, of 1100 Red Tail Hollow, Washington, was slightly injured Monday afternoon when her vehicle crashed into a pillar off Franklin Farms Road, North Franklin police said. She told police she was distracted by a spider that crawled on her. When she tried to knock it off, her vehicle went off the road and crashed.
Vehicle fire: Karen Nyandemoh, 65, of Pittsburgh, escaped injury when her vehicle caught fire Saturday on Franklin Farms Road, North Franklin police said.
Burglary reported: Workers at Amish Yard, 2641 Washington Road, discovered the business had been burglarized when they came to work Monday morning. A side door had been damaged and money was stolen from the cash register.
Accident: One driver complained of chest pains following a two-vehicle accident at 6:18 p.m. Monday on Venetia Road at Anderson Station Drive, township police said. Candace Westoven-Burns, whose name was spelled two different ways on the report, told police she was traveling on Venetia Road when her vehicle collided with a vehicle operated by Marshall McClure, 17, of 250 Bower Hill Road, that pulled from Anderson Station Drive, township police said.Westover-Burns, 41, of 245 Bower Hill Road, complained of chest pains, but refused treatment, police said. McClure told police he was stopped on Anderson Station Drive waiting to pull onto Venetia Road when brush obscured his vision. He was not injured.
Copper theft: Copper pipes and electrical wiring were stolen early Monday morning from a building located at Consol Energy’s 84 Mine at 860 Vanceville Road in Somerset Township, state police said.
Items stolen from car: Several items were stolen from a car parked at an Investors Drive property in South Franklin Wednesday, state police said.
Harassment charge: Mark Marraccini, 47, of 84 Ernest Ave., Monongahela, was charged by Southwest Regional police with harassment stemming from an altercation Sunday night with Angela Croup at her home at 6932 Spruce St., Union. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge James Ellis.
Pistol stolen: Curtis George, of 2487 Route 88, Union, told Southwest Regional police Saturday his Kimber .45-caliber pistol was stolen from his vehicle. Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call police at 724-929-8484.
Drug charges: Washington police said two city residents face drug charges following a traffic stop Monday night in the 100 block of Walnut Street. Police said they will charge Kinsey Dean, 25, of 190 Jollick Manor, and Alquan Barrett, 32, of 117 Hall Ave., after officers found suspected crack and drug paraphernalia in their car during the traffic stop.
Club cited: The operators of Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175, 168 Park Ave., Washington, will be cited by the state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement with possessing or operating gambling devices or permitting gambling on Feb. 13 and 14.
Money stolen from residence: Washington police are investigating after a resident living at 123 Jollick Manor told them someone stole a money order worth $448 and $50 cash from the residence.
Home burglarized: Washington police said a home at 284 E. Prospect Ave. was burglarized Sunday and 70 prescription pills were stolen from the residence.
iPod, cash stolen from car: An iPod, stereo amp and cash were stolen from an unlocked car parked at Washington Park Elementary School on Friday, Washington police said.
