Fayette County judge recuses self in stabbing case
UNIONTOWN (AP) – A western Pennsylvania judge has agreed to recuse herself from a hearing in the case of a man charged in the stabbing death of a woman who had cared for his ill mother at a mobile home park.
Fifty-six-year-old Henry Crawford is charged with homicide and burglary in Fayette County in the Jan. 28 slaying of 49-year-old Lisa Tupta at Holiday Mobile Home Park in North Union Township. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
Defense attorney Mike Garofalo had called on Judge Nancy Vernon to recuse herself, saying his client had been prosecuted by her office when she was the district attorney.
