Police beat May 28
Assault charge: Colby Ray Stevens, 22, of 870 Joffre-Cherry Valley Road, Burgettstown, was charged in connection with an April 18 assault at 1300 Main St., Burgettstown, McDonald police said Saturday. Stevens is charged with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct for allegedly punching his cousin, Kenneth Stevens of Burgettstown, in the left eye before fleeing the scene. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Gary Havelka.
Disorderly charge: Matthew J. Reynolds, 32, of 101 Summer Lane, McDonald, will be charged by McDonald police with disorderly conduct for allegedly throwing a rock at a vehicle owned by James Leuice of Burgettstown, May 21 at 1203 Main St., Burgettstown.
Cellphones, money stolen: Borough police were seeking three men who robbed four people of their cellphones and money Friday night at 316 Green St. University police officers were waved down by those who live at the address about 7:30 p.m. Police said three men and one woman were robbed by the three men, including one armed with a shotgun. The victims said the men were looking for an individual who does not live at the address. The robbers are described as black, with two of them wearing black jeans and black hoodies and the third male wearing a brown sweatshirt with white lettering and jeans. They fled on foot. The university sent out a text alert to students and neighboring police departments were alerted.
Threat, assault charges: Daniel John Liebman, 46, of 16 Timber Crest Circle, Cecil, will be charged in connection with a May 13 incident, McDonald police said Saturday. Police were called to Giant Eagle, 200 Station St., for a report of a retail theft. An employee told police that the suspect, who was walking east on O’Hara Street, tried to steal several items. The suspect, identified as Liebman, also allegedly assaulted two employees including throwing a tube of toothpaste at the back of the head of one man. Liebman was charged with terroristic threats, simple assault, harassment and retail theft. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Valarie Costanzo.
Burglary attempt: An attempt was made early Wednesday to break into K & L Ventures, 353 E. Lincoln St., McDonald police said. Police responded to an alarm and found that an attempt was made to enter a lower level door.
Teen charged: A 17-year-old Imperial girl was charged with disorderly conduct and speeding after McDonald police found suspected marijuana in her vehicle during an April 21 traffic stop on Route 22 near the Bavington ramp, Robinson.
