Former Canonsburg man wanted on warrant arrested after chase
A former Canonsburg man who served jail time for firing shots into a Canonsburg home more than 18 months ago was arrested Thursday afternoon by Washington police after a brief foot chase.
City police Detective Dan Rush had received information from the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force Thursday that 19-year-old Shaquore Yarbrough was wanted on a felony warrant for violating his state parole. Marshals also had received information that he recently came into possession of a gun and was seen carrying it.
Officer Matthew Karlowsky spotted Yarbrough in the 600 block of Addison Street about 2:45 p.m. Thursday. When Karlowsky told Yarbrough that he was under arrest, he ran. Karlowsky chased him and caught him in the 500 block of Addison.
Found inside the pockets of Yarbrough’s shorts were 50 stamp bags of suspected heroin. Police also found $30 and a cellphone.
Yarbrough was 18 when he was arrested for Oct. 11, 2011, for shooting into the home of Roy Allen Johnson III, 18, of 601 Marple Ave. Johnson was not injured.
Yarbrough was sentenced Feb. 8, 2012 to two to four years in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated assault and a firearms violation.
He was placed in Washington County Jail on the state parole violation. City police will charge him with flight to avoid apprehension, possession with intent to deliver heroin and disorderly conduct.
