McKees Rocks woman with ties to McMurray doctor sentenced

1 min read

A McKees Rocks woman with ties to a convicted McMurray doctor was sentenced to 30 months in prison Tuesday for dealing prescription drugs.

U.S. District Judge David S. Cercone sentenced Carol Combs, 55, for violating federal narcotics laws. Combs had pleaded guilty to distributing oxycodone and oxymorphone between August 2010 and January 2012. In addition to purchasing the drugs from a number of “runners” who filled fraudulent prescriptions, a release by the Department of Justice said she obtained prescriptions from Dr. Oliver Herndon, who was sentenced to 11 years in prison and ordered to pay $700,000 in restitution last September.

Herndon, 40, of 311 Braeburn Drive in McMurray, had moved his practice from West Mifflin shortly before being named in a federal indictment for selling more than 14,000 tablets of oxycodone and Opana. Herndon pleaded guilty to prescription drug abuse and health-care fraud in May 2012.
